Every step is built to take under two minutes, because the gap between wanting to understand something and being able to try it is where most learning dies.
Step 01 · 40 seconds
62 MB from the App Store or Play Store. iOS 15 and later, Android 8 and later, on any device with AR support. You can browse the phases and read the material before creating an account — only the AR session and progress tracking need one.
Step 02 · 30 seconds
College email, Apple ID or your institution's SSO. A six-digit code confirms the address once, then progress syncs to every device you study on. The app asks for camera, motion and notification access in three separate screens, each explaining what it needs and why before the system prompt appears.
Step 03 · 15 seconds
Print the marker sheet from the course pack, or open it on a laptop screen — both work. Hold the phone 15 to 90 cm away and the scanner locks on, confirms which phase the marker belongs to, and tells you if the print looks mis-scaled before it causes trouble.

Step 04 · under 2 seconds
Four stages tick off on screen: marker decoded, camera pose estimated, horizontal plane detected, workbench anchored. The last one matters most — the instrument is anchored to the world, not stuck to the screen, so you can lean in, step back and walk around it while it stays exactly where you put it.
Step 05 · 5 to 12 minutes
Two sliders, four waveform types, and a guided experiment that will not let you continue until your wave matches a target. Holding it inside the tolerance band for half a second is what counts — a lucky sweep past the answer does not.
Step 06 · 4 to 6 minutes per phase
Each phase closes with five or six questions, and every answer — right or wrong — reveals its explanation immediately. Score 60% to pass and unlock the next phase. Retries are unlimited and your best attempt is the one that counts, because the point is understanding, not the first guess.
Step 07 · instant
Clearing all four phases issues a certificate carrying your name, your average score across the four best attempts, the date, and a unique ID anyone can verify independently. Download it as a PNG, share it, or attach it to a portfolio.
Requirements
Less than most people expect. No headset, no lab slot, no shared equipment.

One A4 page, printed at 100% with page scaling off. Matte paper beats glossy. No printer? Open the sheet on a laptop screen and scan it from there.
A desk, a table, a floor. Even indoor lighting helps the tracker; direct glare and deep shadow both hurt it. The torch toggle covers a dim room.
Troubleshooting
Three causes, in order of how often they turn out to be the problem:
Glare. Glossy paper under a ceiling light reflects straight into the lens. Tilt the sheet, or reprint on matte.
Scale. If the print dialog had “fit to page” on, the marker is not 80 mm and the app will say so. Measure across the corner brackets and reprint at 100%.
Distance. Under 15 cm the camera cannot focus; past 90 cm the features get too small. Arm's length is the sweet spot.
Almost always motion permission. Without it the app has only the camera to work with, and the workbench slides when you change angle quickly.
Turn it on in the system settings, then reopen the phase. A featureless surface — a plain white table, a glass top — also gives the tracker nothing to hold onto; put the marker on something with visible texture.
That is the design working, not a bug. The next phase assumes the previous one landed.
Open the phase again and choose “Go straight to the quiz”. Every question you answered carries its explanation, so reading those before retrying is usually enough. There is no penalty and no attempt limit — only your best score is recorded.
The lessons still run. Every phase has a non-AR path: the workbench renders as a flat panel, the experiment behaves identically, and the quiz is unchanged.
You lose the spatial anchoring, which is genuinely the best part — but not the content, and not the certificate.
